To the editor:
On Wednesday, June 16, I called Sen. Nancy Kassebaum's office in Washington, D.C., urging her to support the campaign reform bill. I was pleased to read in Friday's Journal-World that she voted for that legislation.
We have lived in Kansas for slightly over a year and a half. In that time, I have been impressed with Sen. Kassebaum's reasonableness. She appears to think out and reach her own conclusions on issues, and does not always toe the line of the Republican Party.
The senior senator from Kansas is another story. He apparently opposes all proposals made by the current administration, whether or not they have merit. I guess he does this because he is the ''leader of the opposition party.'' Sen. Kassebaum should be commended for her independent thinking.
