Mclouth Services for Dr. Robert Rufus Snook, 82, a longtime general practitioner in McLouth, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at McLouth United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Don Powell officiating. Burial with Masonic graveside services conducted by Lyra Lodge No. 256, McLouth, will follow in McLouth Cemetery.
Dr. Snook died Monday, June 14, 1993, at his home in McLouth.
He was born April 30, 1911, at Topeka, the son of Walter R. and Mabele Gilman Snook.
A graduate of Topeka High School, he was in the U.S. Army Cavalry from 1933 to 1936.
He graduated from the Kansas University Medical School in 1942 and was the director of student health at Kansas State University from 1943 to 1948, when he moved to McLouth and started in general practice.
Dr. Snook was a member of McLouth United Methodist Church, Lyra Masonic Lodge No. 256, McLouth, Order of Demolay Legion of Honor, Order of Eastern Star Rinda Chapter No. 82, Tonganoxie, and McLouth Kiwanis Club.
He married Kathel Thomas on Nov. 28, 1936, in Lexington, Mo. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include; four daughters, Nina Blindt, Lawrence, Meredith Edmonds, McLouth, Carolyn Kimberlin, McLouth, and Susan Bemberger, Kansas City, Kan.; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at McLouth United Methodist Church.
The family suggests memorials to McLouth United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund or Jefferson County Hospice. Barnett Funeral Home, Oskaloosa, is in charge of arrangements.
