Overland Park — Services for Calvin M. Hoover, 77, Overland Park, will be at noon Monday at Newcomer's Overland Park Chapel. Graveside services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday at Washington Creek Cemetery in Douglas County.
Mr. Hoover died Thursday, July 22, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 12, 1915, in Douglas County, to Clarence and Cora Grammer Hoover.
Mr. Hoover was a farmer and a member of the Washington Creek Church of the Brethren.
On May 21, 1940, he married Betty Hammond. She preceded him in death.
On Oct. 27, 1975, he married Evelyn "Pinkie" Clark. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Ronald, Topeka, and Martin, Lawrence; two daughters, Linda Steele and Carol Redenbaugh, both of Sedona, Ariz.; a stepson, Tom Rees, Simi Valley, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Rae Swearingen, Bailey, Colo.; two sisters, Alda Kampschroeder and Melvadene Puckett, both of Lawrence; two brothers, Gerald, Lawrence, and Ulice, Shawnee; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren. Two grandchildren preceded him in death.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the chapel.
The family suggests memorials to either the American Cancer Society or memorial funds at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center or the Washington Creek Church of the Brethren.
