Eudora — The Eudora School Board held its organizational meeting for the 1993-94 school year Thursday, approving appointments and establishing schedules.
Supt. Dan Bloom said the district's organization will remain virtually the same as last year, with a few minor changes. The board re-elected Pennie von Achen as president and Norbert Grosdidier as vice president. Mark Chrislip and Ernie Simon will be the board representatives for contract negotiations. Reappointments included Eva Deonier, board clerk; Dawn Grosdidier, board treasurer; and John Immel, board attorney.
The board also voted to meet at 7:30 p.m. the second Thursday of each month, cutting one meeting from the schedule. Bloom said the two meetings were needed when the board was busy planning for the school bond referendum last year, but the time involved had taken its toll on office staff. Special meetings will be held as needed.
Also at Thursday's meeting, the board held a goal-setting session for about 1 1/2 hours. Bloom said board members completed a survey to determine priorities for the district and areas that need more attention. They ranked 24 concerns and selected the top three vote-getters as the main goals for the school board. Those focused on setting goals for improving instructional techniques, setting goals for board operations and maintaining a review process for revising goals.
"All involve planning and establishment of instructional goals," said Bloom.
