Services for Carl E. Chappell, 66, Jacksonville, Ill., will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Williamson Funeral Home, Jacksonville, with burial in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Chappell died Friday, Feb. 5, 1993, at Jacksonville's Passavant Hospital.
He was born July 15, 1926, in Pittsfield, Ill., the son of Hiram Neal and Myrtle Ervin Chappell. He married Dorothy L. Brosie on Nov. 30, 1947, in Pittsfield.
Mr. Chappell worked in the refrigeration department at Kraft Food Ingredients and retired in 1991. He served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines, coached Elks Little League and Pony Colt Baseball for many years and was active in the Cub Scouts.
He was a member of the Boilermaker's Union, a past member of the South Jacksonville Fire Department and attended the First Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Michael, Lawrence, Gary, Springfield, Ill., Dennis, Murrayville, Ill., Randy, Jacksonville, Ill.; two brothers, Stuart and Tom, both of Decatur, Ill.; two sisters, Rose Hocking, Arthur, Ill., and Ila Dumond, El Paso, Tex.; and six grandchildren.
Friends may call after 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will receive visitors from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
The family suggests memorials to the South Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Squad or the Lung Assn.
