Q: I'd like to know about cars that are set up in driveways on cinder blocks for repairs. There's been one in my neighborhood for some time. Are there ordinances about this?

A: As long as such vehicles are on private property, on an improved surface such as a driveway, and not in the street, there is no ordinance against placing cars on cinder blocks, said police Sgt. Mark Warren. Also, such vehicles must not create a danger for children in the neighborhood, he said. However, such vehicles could be in violation of the city's environmental codes, depending on the condition of the vehicle, Warren said.
