Two 22-year-old Lawrence men remained hospitalized late Saturday with injuries they suffered in a motorcycle accident early Saturday at Iowa Street and Orchard Lane, authorities reported.
Lawrence police reported that Richard J. Tebe, 1417 E. 15th, and a passenger on his motorcycle, Kirk L. Billings, 311 Minn., were injured when Tebe's motorcycle struck a car at 1:52 a.m. Saturday.
Kirk L. Billings remained in fair condition at the Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan., and Tebe was listed in fair condition at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Police reported that Tebe was riding north on Iowa when the 1980 Yamaha motorcycle he was riding struck the rear of a northbound car driven by Kenneth A. Ward, 40, 3414 Augusta Dr.
A police report stated that Ward was driving about 30 to 35 mph when the accident occurred. Witnesses reported that Tebe was traveling 75 to 80 mph shortly before the accident.
Tebe was cited for reckless driving, not having a motorcycle operator's license and having no proof of insurance.
Ward, who was not injured, was cited for having no proof of insurance.
