The unofficial percentage of registered voters who cast ballots Tuesday night was 27 percent, according to Patty Jaimes, Douglas County clerk.

Although the percentage was lower than the 39 percent who voted in the April 1991 election, the actual number of voters was about the same, she said.

Unofficially, 12,340 people voted Tuesday, compared with 12,628 in spring 1991.

The 1992 presidential election drew a record number of registered voters, 45,155, she said, which skewed the voter turnout percentage.
