— Services for Julia Jo Nicholson Stires, 45, Salina, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Xavier's Catholic Church, Junction City, with the Rev. Louis S. Mattas officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Junction City.

Mrs. Stires died Saturday, Sept. 19, 1992, at St. John's Hospital, Salina.

She was born Jan. 7, 1947, at Junction City, the daughter of Bernard James and Vera Helen Nye Nicholson. She grew up in Junction City, where she attended St. Xavier's schools and graduated in 1965. She attended Emporia State College in 1965 and 1966.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Salina, and had been active in the YWCA and crafts in Salina.

She married Jim M. Stires on Dec. 31, 1966, at St. Xavier's Church, Junction City. He survives of the home. She and her husband had lived in Salina for the past 11 years. She was a homemaker and saleswoman.

Other survivors include a daughter, Shanele Stires, a student at Kansas State University; a son, Sean Stires, a student at Kansas University; her parents, Vera and Bernard Nicholson, Junction City; two sisters, Kay Field, Junction City, and Sheila Waymire, Elmore, Ind.; and a brother, Patrick Nicholson, Grandview Plaza.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Johnson Funeral Chapel, Junction City, where rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Monday.

The family suggests memorials to the intensive care unit at St. John's Hospital and St. Mary's Catholic Church, both of Salina, the Leukemia Foundation and St. Xavier's High School, Junction City.
