Services for Helen H. Mills Starns, 84, Lawrence, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Tonganoxie with the Rev. David Petersen officiating. Burial will be in Hubbel Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Starns died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 1992, at her home.
She was born Nov. 1, 1907, in Harrison, Neb., to Ralph D. and Elsie Henkle Mills. She taught school for one year at Mound School in rural Tonganoxie and five years at Tonganoxie Grade School. She retired in 1968 after 26 years of federal government service with the editorial division of the U.S. Army Artillery Missile School at Fort Sill, Okla. She had lived in Lawrence since 1988, moving here from Lakeview, Ark.
She was a member of the Tonganoxie United Methodist Church, the Professional Secretaries International, the American Business Women's Assn., the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the Benevolent & Protective Order of Does in Lakeview, Ark.
She married Peter B. Starns on June 22, 1929, in Kansas City, Kan. He died July 9, 1983.
Survivors include a brother, Lloyd H. Mills, Tonganoxie.
The family suggests memorials to the Tonganoxie United Methodist Church, in care of the funeral home.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Quisenberry Funeral Home.
