An unarmed, masked man made off with an undisclosed amount of cash after a robbery early Tuesday at a fast-food restaurant, Lawrence police reported today.
Lt. Ed Brunt said this morning that the man entered Taco John's restaurant, 1626 W. 23rd, through a back door at 12:05 a.m. Tuesday and grabbed a cashier around the neck.
While holding the cashier, the man grabbed the arm of a night manager, a 21-year-old woman, and ordered the employees to take him to the office, Brunt said. Brunt said the cashier, an 18-year-old woman, placed cash in a canvas bag and gave it to the man.
The man ordered the women not to turn around, then ran out the back door.
The victims told officers that the man was wearing a red bandana that covered his head and face. He also was wearing a dark sweatshirt and dark pants.
Neither of the women was hurt. No arrests have been made.
