Kansas freshman Lesli Steinert has been chosen as Big Eight volleyball player of the week for her performance at the Arkansas State Tournament over the weekend and against Kansas State last Wednesday.
Steinert led Kansas to its first Big Eight victory this season over Kansas State with 25 set assists, a .364 hitting percentage and 13 digs. She also helped the Jayhawks finish second in the Arkansas State Tournament. Against South Florida, she hit .750 with seven kills. She contributed 24 set assists and 14 digs in the victory over Arkansas-Little Rock. For the third straight tournament, she was named to the all-tournament team.
Steinert, a 5-9 setter from El Toro, Calif., leads the Jayhawks with 543 set assists.
The Jayhawks will host Nebraska at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Allen Fieldhouse.
