A 37-year-old man has waived extradition from Lincoln, Neb., to Lawrence to face charges that he enticed one Lawrence girl and sexually attacked another in separate incidents on Sept. 26, authorities said today.
Assistant Douglas County Dist. Atty. Frank Diehl said this morning that sheriff's officers plan to bring Robert Eugene Bornemeier to Lawrence on Thursday.
Bornemeier was arrested Friday night in Lincoln on a Douglas County warrant charging him with counts of taking indecent liberties with a child, enticing a child and sexual battery.
He is accused of enticing a 10-year-old Lawrence girl about 11:30 a.m. Sept. 26 in the parking lot of Dillon food store, 1740 Mass. Police said the man accused the girl of shoplifting, then tried to lure her to a loading dock.
About 30 minutes later outside Checkers Foods, 2300 La., authorities said, the man accused another 10-year-old girl of shoplifting and told her she wouldn't get into trouble if he could touch her. The man pushed the girl to the ground, fondled her chest and tried to unbutton her pants before she ran away.
