— A memorial service for Wilbert L. (Bert) Dyer, 57, Valley Falls, will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Calvary Baptist Church in Valley Falls, with the Rev. Jon Boyd officiating. The body was cremated.

Mr. Dyer died Sunday, Nov. 8, 1992, at a Topeka hospital.

He was born July 28, 1935, at Hagensport, Tex., the son of John Austin and Mary David Dyer.

He had lived in the Valley Falls community since 1978, moving there from Oskaloosa, where he lived for 10 years.

Mr. Dyer was a Marine veteran of the Korean War. He had worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation in Oskaloosa for 12 years.

Mr. Dyer also had been a member of the Oskaloosa Township Fire Department and the Valley Falls Fire Department and Rescue Squad.

He married Virginia Moore on April 13, 1968, at Vinland. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, John Moore, El Dorado; three daughters, Jeralyn Lewis, Meriden, Julie Gordon, Valley Falls, and Joyce Day, Ozawkie; two brothers, Emerson Dyer and Billy Jack Dyer, both of San Angelo, Tex.; four sisters, Katherine Franklin, Houston, Marie Wallcott, San Angelo, June Sears, Carlsbad, Tex., and Bobby Marion, Splendora, Tex.; and 11 grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Valley Falls Rescue Squad. Hampton-Barrett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
