Civil cases filed

Harris Construction Co., Lawrence, has filed three lawsuits in Douglas County District Court against companies it had subcontracted with to build a Wal-Mart store in Overland Park. Harris filed suits against Cannon Commercial Mechanical Contractors Inc., Calidad Masonry Co. and W.W. Contractors Inc. No address were listed for the companies. Harris contends the companies breached their contracts to complete the building. Harris is seeking $8,810 from Cannon and $39,476 from Calidad for allegedly not completing masonry work. From W.W. Contractors, Harris is seeking $15,000 because the firm allegedly did not complete iron work for the Wal-Mart store. Harris also is seeking $31,514 from W.W. Contractors because the firm allegedly didn't complete iron work on a Hy-Vee store in Mission. Earlier, Harris filed a suit against Grisham Grading & Excavating, Lenexa, seeking $447,149 because Grisham allegedly breached its contract to perform excavating at the Wal-Mart store.
