— Services for Mary B. Mathews, 82, Lecompton, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Lecompton United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lecompton.

Mrs. Mathews died today, Nov. 5, 1992, at an Olathe nursing home.

She was born Aug. 10, 1910, in Manhattan, to Herbert and Lotti Townsend Hays. She moved to Lecompton in 1946.

Mrs. Mathews was a homemaker. She and her husband owned and operated Mathews Hardware in Perry from 1965 to 1973. They also farmed for more than 50 years and operated an orchard.

She was a member of Lecompton United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Rebekahs, and she was a past president of the Lioness Club in Perry. Her family was a past recipient of the Douglas County 4-H Family of the Year Award.

She married C.C. "Neal" Mathews on Nov. 1, 1932, in Manhattan. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, George, McLouth, and Larry, Perry; a daughter, Carolyn Stewart, Simsbury, Conn., eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to noon Sunday at Rumsey Funeral Home in Lawrence, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.

The family suggests memorials to the Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn. or the Lecompton United Methodist Church. Memorials may be sent in care of the funeral home.
