Services for Jennie E. Stieghorst, 105, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary with the Revs. J. Edward Nelson and Charles E. Gilmore officiating. Memorial graveside services will be Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Skokie, Ill.
Mrs. Stieghorst died Thursday, March 19, 1992, at the Eudora Nursing Center.
She was born Sept. 25, 1886, in Chicago, the daughter of Henry and Emilie Brauns Meyer.
A homemaker, Mrs. Stieghorst had been a resident of Lawrence the past 25 years, moving here from Evanston, Ill.
In an interview coinciding with her 100th birthday, Mrs. Stieghorst said her longevity couldn't be attributed to anything special. "I just live," she said. "Nobody of my family ever has lived this long. But one has to pay a price. My eyes, my ears aren't what they used to be."
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Wilmette, Ill., and attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Lawrence.
She married Theodore Stieghorst on March 30, 1920. He died in 1959.
Survivors include a daughter, Maggie Carttar, Lawrence; a son, Gunther Stieghorst, Golden, Colo; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Lawrence Community Nursery School for the purchase of playground equipment. Memorials may be sent in care of the mortuary.
