Sandee Crowther, director of staff development for the Lawrence school district, has been selected to receive a Phi Delta Kappa 1992 Gerald Howard Read International Seminar Scholarship.
Crowther, a member of the Kansas University chapter of Phi Delta Kappa, was awarded the scholarship to support her interest in comparative and international education and to recognize her outstanding service to Phi Delta Kappa, which is a professional education fraternity.
The scholarships, established in 1980 by an endowment from Gerald and Vickie Read, subsidize participation in Phi Delta Kappa travel seminars. The awards range from $750 to $1,500, the higher amount prevailing when land-air costs exceed $3,000.
As one of 50 scholarship winners, Crowther may use the money on any Phi Delta Kappa seminar scheduled through the summer of 1994. Seminars already scheduled include Spain, Russia-The Ukraine, The People's Republic of China, Canadian Rockies, Poland-Budapest-Vienna, Austria-New Zealand, Kenya-Zimbabwe and Switzerland.
