A former Kansas University student has filed suit in Douglas County District Court against a Missouri medical firm that she alleges misdiagnosed her physical condition. Robin Dibble, Johnson County, is suing Litton Laboratory, Blue Springs, Mo., for what she claims was negligence on the firm's part when it diagnosed a tissue sample of hers as containing human papilloma virus, which can cause cancer. The suit alleges the tissue sample was taken by a physician at Watkins Health Center at KU. Based on the diagnosis, Dibble had gynecological surgery as a safeguard against contracting cancer, according to the suit and Jerry Levy, her attorney. Levy said Dibble later took slides of her tissue samples to an expert at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, who told her she did not have the virus. Dibble's suit seeks more than $50,000 in damages.
