— Memorial services for Samuel W. Gilchrist, 90, Jackson, were Monday at Christ United Methodist Church here.

Mr. Gilchrist, a former resident of Lawrence, Kan., died Friday, Feb. 28, 1992, at his home.

He was born April 6, 1901, in Walton, Kan., the son of Edward C. and Elizabeth Gilchrist.

Mr. Gilchrist was a retired certified public accountant. He graduated from Kansas University in 1925 and lived in Lawrence from 1939 to 1985, when he moved to Jackson.

While in Lawrence, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Kiwanis International and University Club. He also was a Mason. After he retired, he enjoyed playing golf.

He married Eleanor DaHarb on Feb. 8, 1930, in Independence, Kan. She preceded him in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Elaine Drake, Jackson, Miss., and Nancy Alexander, Houston; a sister, Margaret Stoner, Rogue River, Ore.; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the First United Methodist Church in Lawrence or a charity of the donor's choice.
