To the editor:
I recently read an editorial in the Journal-World called "A class act," concerning the quality of the fans in Allen Fieldhouse. It was a great tribute to the university, its fans and to the basketball program. I certainly agreed 100 percent with the editorial.
The quality of the fans, particularly the students, was apparent to me when the 1952 basketball team was introduced at the half of the Colorado game. I was very surprised by the applause we received. The students, who were not even born in 1952 and probably did not know much about the '52 team, gave us a great reception. This was a very moving experience for myself and, I am sure, for the rest of my teammates. I feel this attitude of pride in the university and its accomplishments is what makes KU such a great institution.
I wanted the fans to know how much we all appreciated the reception. They are "A class act."
