Lawrence police today arrested a 30-year-old Lenexa woman who is a suspect in a Lenexa kidnapping case.
Lt. Charles Greer said Lenexa police recently contacted Lawrence police about the woman. Greer said Lawrence police arrested the woman about 1:15 a.m. today in a northwest Lawrence residence.
She was booked into the Douglas County Jail at 3:17 a.m. and was being held without bond, according to the jail log.
Lenexa police Det. Tom Penhollow said today that the woman was a suspect in a kidnapping and extortion case involving a 16-year-old acquaintance of the woman. He would not elaborate, but said Lenexa authorities has been looking for the woman since Thursday.
Penhollow said the woman would be held in the Douglas County Jail until Lenexa authorities obtain a court order for her transfer to their custody.
