To the editor:
Your editorial entitled "Unfair Environment" (June 4) with its seething criticism of two Kansas University faculty members for expressing their views on the upcoming United Nations Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro was completely off base. These peple were expressing their considered opinions when questioned by your staff writer. They weren't expounding their personal opinion before a class of hapless, helpless students too innocent and immature to protect themselves from indoctrination.
You must admit these negative expectations of the summit results are not limited to university professors. They're practically the only expectations being expressed anywhere. So let's be fair and not denounce people for being gracious enough to give honest answers to the reporters' questions even though we might not like their views.
