— Two teen-agers were killed and two hospitalized after a one-vehicle accident late Thursday on Kansas Highway 92 in Leavenworth County, according to Janette Nesmith, public relations officer with the Leavenworth County Sheriff's Office.

Joseph Simms, 17, Leavenworth, was driving east in a Chevrolet pickup truck just west of Bauder Road in Leavenworth at 11:58 p.m., when he lost control while turning a curve, ran off the road and struck a cement culvert retaining wall, Nesmith said.

Passengers in the cab of the truck were Jessica Ybarra, 15, Lansing; James Allen, 16, Leavenworth; and Brianna Deal, 16, Lansing.

All four were extracated from the truck by the Delaware Township Fire Department. Joseph and Jessica were pronounced dead at the scene.

James was transported by the Leavenworth County Emergency Medical Service to St. John Hospital in Leavenworth and later taken by Life Flight helicopter to the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan. He was in surgery this morning, so his condition wasn't available.

Brianna was taken by Leavenworth County EMS to Cushing Hospital in Leavenworth. She was in stable condition this morning.
