Services for Eleanor M. Shughart, 67, Perry, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Rumsey Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg S. Davis officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery, Oskaloosa.
Mrs. Shughart died Saturday, May 30, 1992, at her home, after a long illness.
She was born Sept. 24, 1924, in Kiro, to Clyde M. May and Winnifred Josephine Strobel. She attended elementary school in Newman and Jefferson County. She graduated from Winchester High School in 1942 and attended Lawrence Business College.
Mrs. Shughart worked in the office of Dean J.O. Jones of the Kansas University School of Engineering and later for N.R. Hamm Inc. In 1966, she was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Oskaloosa and transferred to the Jayhawk Postal Station in Lawrence in 1967. She retired in March 1990.
Mrs. Shughart attended Heritage Baptist Church.
She married Delmer L. Shughart on April 6, 1946, in Lawrence and he survives. The couple lived in rural Oskaloosa for 19 years before moving to rural Perry.
Other survivors include two sons, Gale, Oskaloosa, and Daryl, Topeka; a daughter, Sherrie Rodman, Normal, Ill.; two brothers, Keith May, Winchester, and Robert E. May, Tecumseh; a sister, Marilyn Clark, Excelsior Springs, Mo.; and nine grandchildren.
Friends may call until 9 p.m. today and until service time Tuesday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today. The family suggests memorials to the Center for Basic Cancer Research, in care of Rumsey Funeral Home.
