WINCHESTER — Services for Eldon E. "Dick" Farris, 74, Winchester, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Jefferson County North High School gymnasium here with the Rev. Robert A. Henning and the Rev. William Ritchie officiating. Burial will follow at McLouth Cemetery.
Mr. Farris died Friday, July 17, 1992, at a Topeka hospital.
He was born Dec. 9, 1917, in Winchester, the son of Elber S. "Dick" and Willia Denny Farris. Mr. Farris lived in the Winchester community throughout his life and graduated from Winchester Rural High School in 1935.
Mr. Farris was a professional auctioneer for 50 years and also was a cattleman and farmer.
He was a member of the Winchester United Methodist Church, Kiwanis Club at McLouth and the Plum Grove Grange at Winchester.
He married Thelma Woodhead on Nov. 27, 1938, at McLouth. She survives of the home. A daughter, Bonnie Jean Farris, died Aug. 13, 1949.
Survivors include three sons, Thomas E. Sr., McLouth; Ron, Winchester, and Lonnie, Meriden; a sister, Madonna Linke, Rosemead, Calif.; 10 grandchidren; and three great-granddaughters.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at Hampton-Barrett Funeral Home, Oskaloosa. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the Winchester United Methodist Church.
