A United Way of Douglas County board member was recently selected to serve on a national United Way committee, which meets Thursday and Friday in Alexandria, Va.
Marilyn Bittenbender, president-elect of the Douglas County chapter's board of directors, will serve on the United Way of America Network Committee, whose mission is to "develop recommendations for role and structure of mechanisms to enhance local United Way professional and volunteer involvement in United Way of America."
Bittenbender served as drive chair for the Douglas County 1991-92 campaign that raised $1,000,050 to fund services in 29 local member agencies. She is in charge of speakers for this year's campaign.
"I am pleased to be selected for this task," Bittenbender said. "Our local United Way should have a voice in how the United Way of America serves us. Their willingness to involve volunteers and staff from local Untied Ways shows a sincerity to respond to the needs we have for service."
