— Services for William Henry Mize Sr., 67, Oskaloosa, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hampton-Barrett Funeral Home, Oskaloosa, with the Rev. Dick Griffin officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Oskaloosa.

Mr. Mize died Saturday, July 4, 1992, in a Sioux City, Iowa, hospital.

He was born June 28, 1925, at Berryton, to Carl N. and Edith May Ziegler Mize.

He lived in Oskaloosa several years.

He was a professional race horse trainer touring in Kansas, Nebraska and South Dakota.

Mr. Mize was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific.

He was a member of the Baptist church and the Horsemen Benevolence Assn.

He married Carmen Valenzuela on Aug. 7, 1975, at El Paso, Tex. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Marjorie May Chowning, Grove, Okla., and Deborah Sue Parker, Overland Park; four sons, William H. Jr., Lenexa, Kirk W., Shawnee, Joseph N., Jacksonville, Fla., and Stephen C., Fairway; a stepdaughter, Mireya Valenzuela of the home; two sisters, Lila McCabe, Meriden, and Betty Lewis, Topeka; a brother, Herbert A., Oskaloosa; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

A son, Karl Nolan, died Dec. 25, 1948.

Friends may call until 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until service time Tuesday.

The family will receive friends at the home of Herbert Mize in Oskaloosa following the service.
