To the editor:
I would like to encourage the citizens of Douglas, Sedgwick and Johnson counties to encourage your representatives to vote against the unfair intangibles tax against your savings. The citizens of Douglas County soundly defeated this tax in 1980, and I might add, with the approval of the city commissioners.
Reps. Jack Wempe, Little River, and George Teagarden, LaCygne, are the two legislators responsible for this. They claim that the rich ($10,000 bracket and above) would be the only ones affected. Maybe in 1980, that was rich, but how far would that go in putting your child through college today or making a down payment on your home or car?
