Kansas University continues to rank among the nation's top state universities with 48 first-time National Merit Scholars enrolled for the 1991-92 academic year.
According to the annual report released this month by the National Merit Scholarship Corp., only 14 public universities enroll more scholars than KU.
"The reputation of the University of Kansas continues to attract superb students," said Chancellor Gene A. Budig. "KU is committed to attracting even more National Merit Scholars in the years ahead."
KU enrolls 66 percent of the first-time National Merit Scholars in Kansas. The annual report lists 73 first-time scholars attending Kansas schools, with 71 enrolled in Board of Regents universities.
