Staff members are adjusting after the merger this weekend of staffs and records of the Douglas County District Court criminal and civil divisions.
Civil court staff and files were moved to the room that housed criminal court records as part of the remodeling efforts at the Lawrence-Douglas County Judicial and Law Enforcement Center. Both civil and criminal court records now are located in an expanded room in the northeast corner of the main floor.
Sherlyn K. Sampson, chief clerk of court, said court offices would open a half-hour later this week to give staffs time to determine office procedures. Court hours will be 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. this week, she said. Next week the court will open at its regular time, 8:30 a.m., Sampson said.
She added that the court offices would remain open during the noon hour in a month.
