A robber disrupted an intimate moment between an 18-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man, both Kansas University students, Sunday morning.

According to police reports, the two students were embracing in a car parked in a lot south of Benchwarmer's Sports Bar and Grill, 1601 W. 23rd, about 1 a.m. Sunday when the robber walked up to the vehicle, opened the door and placed a knife at the man's throat. The robber then demanded that the man hand over his money.

The robber took the man's billfold containing cash and credit cards. The man did not take anything from the woman.

The robber walked away from the car and the man started his car and chased the suspect through the parking lot.

A doorman working at Benchwarmer's saw what was going on in the parking lot, chased the suspect and apprehended him. Police were contacted and they arrested the suspect. He was identified as a 21-year-old Hays man. Police also found that the suspect was carrying a small pocket knife. The man remained in the Douglas County Jail this morning without bond and is scheduled for a first appearance today in Douglas County District Court.
