Services for Maurice Wolferd Clarkson, 84, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Ron Goodman officiating. Masonic graveside services will be conducted by the Acacia Lodge No. 9 A.F.& A.M. at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Clarkson died Thursday, Jan. 23, 1992, at his home.
He was born April 2, 1907, in Oklahoma City, the son of R. Harley and Julia Wolferd Clarkson. He moved to Lawrence in 1925 to attend Kansas University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business in 1929. As a student, he was a member of the KU marching band and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
Mr. Clarkson was the former office manager and district auditor for the the Kansas Power & Light Company in Lawrence. He worked for the company from 1935 until his retirement in 1972.
He was a member of the First Christian Church, Acacia Lodge No. 9 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies of Lawrence, High Twelve Club and the Century Club of the Wolcott Foundation of the High Twelve Club.
Mr. Clarkson also was a member of the KU Alumni Association and KU's Gold Medal Club. He was a former board member of the Lawrence Salvation Army and past president of the Social Service League.
He married Meta Murphy on April 6, 1930, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Richard, Denver; and a sister, Louise Miller, Tulsa, Okla.
Friends may call from until 9 p.m. today at the Warren-McElwain Mortuary. The family suggests memorials to the First Christian Church building fund, which may be sent in care of the funeral home.
