February 3 looms as a busy day for the Douglas County Commission.
In addition to its usual 9 a.m. meeting, the commission also will meet that afternoon with the city and planning commissions on two separate issues.
The county commission will meet with the Lawrence City Commission at 4 p.m. for a joint study session to discuss the setback requirements for the South Lawrence Trafficway. The two commissions will review the proposed 150-foot setback requirements along the trafficway's route.
Then at 5:30 p.m., county commissioners will meet with the Lawrence-Douglas County Planning Commission to review the Rural Development Plan. An ad hoc committee of the planning commission wrote the development plan, which addresses rural land-use issues.
The meeting between the county commission and planning commission is open to the public, but it is not a public hearing.
