To the editor:
Special thanks to the Traffic Safety Commission for passing the resolution concerning pedestrians and bicyclists. In the resolution they strongly recommend that the city commission take immediate action "to improve the safety and convenience of travel by non-motorized means within the city and to actively promote non-motorized transportation as an important element of its internal circulation."
Not until the Traffic Safety Commission met did I know that the $50,000 annual expenditure for pedestrian and bike facilities had been gradually taken away the last three years. Why?
I appreciated the time the Traffic Safety Commission gave us that night and I hope they continue to assist those of us who choose to walk or bike in our endeavor to gain safer transportation facilities.
