With about a half-inch of rain falling in Lawrence on Tuesday and Wednesday, the city has surpassed its average monthly precipitation for January.
The 0.49 of an inch of rain from the last two days boosted Lawrence's monthly total precipitation to 1.28 inches. The Kansas University Weather Service measured 0.19 of an inch at 7 a.m. Wednesday and another 0.30 of an inch at the same time today. January, historically the driest month in the city, normally averages 1.11 inches of precipitation.
