As the 1992 political elections heat up nationally, a local official will light the campaign fire next week when he officially announces his candidacy for the office of Douglas County district attorney.
Dist. Atty. Jerry Wells originally planned to declare his candidacy this morning but rescheduled his announcement to 10 a.m. next Wednesday at the Lawrence Senior Center, 745 Vt.
Wells was elected by Douglas County Republican Precinct Committee members in June to complete the term of his predecessor, Jim Flory, who resigned to take a job with the U.S. attorney's office in Kansas City, Kan.
