To the editor:
I cannot believe what I read in the paper recently!
Evidently two of our county commissioners had already decided what was going to be done before the meeting was ever held!
I thought they were elected to work for the good of the people as a whole.
I hope that if they ever have to make the decision to place a loved one in a care home that they will be lucky enough to find one that has the type of compassion and caring found at Valley View, (as we have found by personal experience) and will remember the decision that so few made for so many.
I can't and won't speak for the residents there, but nobody has to be told that when you go from county-owned to private enterprise you are also changing from non-profit to for-profit and anyone knows where the extra (for-profit) is coming from.
The extra that we will be paying for the juvenile center project becsuse it wasn't checked properly before the commitment was made would go a long way toward subsidizing a yearly operation if they built a new facility on land they already owned.
I'm sure I have already decided my vote in the next election and as far as I'm concerned it can't get here too fast!
