Services for Gary V. Williams, 61, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Rumsey Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Goodman officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Leavenworth National Cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Williams died Friday, Jan. 17, 1992, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Topeka.
He was born Aug. 15, 1930, in Fort Scott, the son of Winfield Francis Williams and Emma Alvina Fettke.
He graduated from Fort Scott High School in 1948. Mr. Williams moved to Eudora in 1955 and to Lawrence in 1964. He then became a master carpenter, working for several developers in Lawrence and Kansas City, Mo. For the past seven years, he worked in the carpentry and maintenance department at the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.
He served as a hospital corpman in the Navy from Sept. 11, 1950, to Aug. 29, 1955.
A member of the First Christian Church, Mr. Williams enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He married Joyce Ann Lentz on April 16, 1955, in Annapolis, Md., and she survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Gary Michael, Lawrence; three daughters, Marsha A. Valentine, Gardner, Karen S. Vaughn, Tonganoxie, and Sanra P. Williams, Lawrence; a brother, Harold H. Williams, Mindenmines, Mo.; a sister, Patsy I. Williams, Kansas City, Mo.; and six grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and until service time Tuesday at Rumsey Funeral Home, where the family will meet with friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.
The family suggests memorials to Big Brothers and Big Sisters in care of the funeral home.
