Memorial services for Capitola Mae Vernon, 86, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Grace Episcopal Cathedral, Topeka, and at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Brandon Woods Retirement Community, Lawrence.
Mrs. Vernon was cremated and private inurnment will be in Grace Cathedral's Chapel of Resurrection in Topeka.
Mrs. Vernon died today, Jan. 16, 1992, at her home.
She was born June 30, 1905, in Melvern to Alfred Milton and Grace McClure Jarboe.
She served as a Red Cross nurse's aide at Winter General Hospital in Topeka during World War II. She lived in Topeka until 1988, when she and her husband moved to Lawrence.
Mrs. Vernon was a member of the Grace Episcopal Cathedral, where she had been president of the Women of Grace Cathedral. She attended Trinity Episcopal Church in Lawrence. She also was a member of the women's auxiliary at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka and the Topeka Country Club.
She married Carl A. Vernon on Jan. 10, 1925. He died in 1989.
Survivors include a son, Carl A. Vernon Jr., of the home; a sister, Mrs. Warren West, Roseville, Minn.; a brother, Robert Jarboe, Richardson, Tex.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
