A representative of a local church again will ask the Douglas County Commission on Wednesday to approve a site plan for a new church building.
Mike Vieux, representing Community Bible Church, will ask the county to approve the final plat and site plan for the church, which will be built just east of County Road 13 about a mile west of Lawrence. The site is along the western leg of the South Lawrence Trafficway, north of where the trafficway will curve into Clinton Parkway.
In September, Vieux asked the county to approve the site plan before the church's final plat was approved. The county balked because plat approval precedes site plan approval in the planning process. Vieux sought the site plan first so construction could begin on the church before winter.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the county courthouse, 11th and Massachusetts streets.
Here is Wednesday's agenda:
Consider Jan. 13 minutes.
Consider a proclamation declaring the week of Jan. 19-25 as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. week in the county.
Consider commission orders.
Consider a proposal for the Local Public Authority inspection by county staff for surfacing of County Road 1023 north of Big Springs in northwest Douglas County.
Consider an agreement with Independence Inc. for the agency to provide services to physically handicapped residents in the county.
Consider an agreement with Cottonwood Inc. for the agency to provide services to mentally handicapped residents in the county.
Consider a resolution designating certain Palmyra Township roads as minimum maintenance roads.
Consider a resolution to amend the "Zoning Regulations for the Unincorporated Area of Douglas County."
Consider an application for a Temporary Business Use Permit by Killough Quarries to operate an asphalt batch plant at the company quarry near the intersection of County Roads 1420N and 2300E, about a mile east of Eudora.
Consider the final plat for the Community Bible Church addition, a 5.18-acre lot subdivision east of County Road 13 at the north side of Yankee Tank Overlook, about a mile west of Lawrence. The plat was submitted by Landplan Engineering for the Community Bible Church, property owner of record.
Consider a site plan for the Community Bible Church, which was submitted for the church.
Consider accounts payable and appointments; receive comment from the commission, county administrator and the public.
