Private inurnment at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence is planned in early spring for Alfred Porter Davis, 70, Sierra Vista, Ariz. Mr. Davis died Sunday, Jan. 12, 1992, in a Tucson, Ariz. hospital.
He was born May 10, 1921, in New York, the son of Phillip L. Davis and Katheryne Alford. The body was cremated.
Mr. Davis was a retired mail carrier. He lived in Lawrence and Baldwin and moved from Baldwin to Sierra Vista, Calif. in 1989.
He served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps., and was a life member of the Alford-Clarke Post No. 852 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Lawrence.
He married Irene E. Grems on Oct. 17, 1950, in Bentonville, Ark. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Jon A., Lawrence; a daughter, Janice Byrne, Costa Mesa, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, in care of Rumsey Funeral Home, which is in charge of local arrangements.
