A total of 13 December 1991 Kansas University graduates were commissioned as armed forces officers in ceremonies Friday at at KU.
Brig. Gen. William Michael Steele, deputy commandant for the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, spoke during the program in the Kansas Union for the new officers, who had completed requirements of KU Air Force, Army and Naval ROTC units.
Before his present assignment at Fort Leavenworth, Steele was assistant division commander of the Eighth Infantry Division in Baumholder, Germany. He has also served as assistant commandant for the U.S. Army Infantry School, Fort Benning, Ga.
