Ralph Miller, a former Kansas University basketball player and Wichita State coach, was introduced during a first-half time out Wednesday night at Levitt Arena.

Miller, 72, who also coached at Oregon State, received a loud and prolonged ovation.

KU coach Roy Williams paid his respects before the game.

"He and I talked about some things. I appreciate the tradition at KU and Ralph Miller is a big part of it," Williams said after KU's 81-51 rout of the Shockers. "I like old coaches. I'll be one before long. For a long time, I've appreciated what he's done as a coach."

Rex Walters had six of KU's 17 assists.

KU's starters hit 24 of 33 shots for 72.8 percent. The non-starters were eight of 30 for 26.7 percent. Gary Bedore
