The delivery of Sarah Jane Seymour will make early January an especially festive time of year in Cheryl and Mark Seymour's house in Ottawa.
After all, celebration of Sarah's first birthday next year will be followed by her father's birthday on Jan. 4 and her mother's on Jan. 6.
Sarah, born at 7:35 a.m. Wednesday at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, was the first baby born in Lawrence in 1992. She weighed 6 pounds, 5 ounces and was 19 inches.
"It's been interesting," Mrs. Seymour said today. "She's real cute."
Mrs. Seymour didn't expect to give birth to her third child until later this month, but Sarah had other plans.
"This was a big surprise," she said, "since the other two were real late."
Sarah has two sisters, Rachel, 6, and Rebekah, 2. Sarah's siblings are excited about the prospect of having a new playmate, Mrs. Seymour said.
"They're all excited," she said. "They came up last night. I sent my oldest daughter home with a picture of her (Sarah) for show-and-tell."
After the birth Wednesday morning, Mr. Seymour said his wife and new daughter were doing well.
"Well, like any father, I would have liked to have a boy, but I think a girl is fine," he said.
Mrs. Seymour is a state social worker in Ottawa and her husband is a construction worker in Ottawa.
The child's paternal grandparents are Bert and Gladys Fewins of Savonburg. Her maternal grandparents are Bill and Marilyn Seymour of Ottawa.
