A 30-year-old Topeka woman reported she was kidnapped in Topeka and taken to rural Douglas County where she was raped and her purse was stolen at an unknown time Saturday morning in rural Douglas County, Douglas County sheriff's officers reported.
According to sheriff's reports, the woman had been in Topeka and was walking home when a man she did not know drove his pickup next to her and offered her a ride home. She accepted and he drove her to Douglas County, where he pulled over on County Road 225E, near 2190N, about three miles west of Lecompton. The woman told officers the man dragged her out of his truck, hit her in the face and raped her.
The suspect left the woman in the area, but took her purse, which reportedly contained $300 cash.
The woman went to a nearby house where she called sheriff's officers about the incident. She was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital for an examination. No further information was available and no suspects had been identified this morning.
