JEFFERSON COUNTY FILES DRUG CHARGES AGAINST 6 AFTER RAID

— Six people arrested by Jefferson County sheriff's officers during an early morning raid Tuesday at a rural Meriden residence have been charged in Jefferson County District Court.

Arrested in the raid were Donald E. McPherson, 32; Gary McPherson, 41; Raymond McPherson, 19; Kelly McPherson, 22; and Darrell McPherson, 20, all of rural Meriden. Also arrested was Candace Mullins, 26, who listed a Burlingame address.

According to a spokeswoman for the Jefferson County Atty.'s office, the group made a first appearance Wednesday in Jefferson County District Court.

Gary McPherson was charged with possessing cocaine; possessing methamphetamine; possessing methamphetamine with intent to sell; possessing drug paraphernalia; possessing marijuana; possessing marijuana with intent to sell; possessing deer meat without a permit; possessing stolen property; possessing marijuana without a Kansas drug tax stamp; and possessing methamphetamine without a tax stamp.

KELLY MCPHERSON was charged with burglary; felony theft; battery; aggravated assault; possessing marijuana; possessing methamphetamine; possessing methamphetamine with intent to sell; possessing drug paraphernalia; possessing marijuana with intent to sell; and two tax stamp violations.

Donald McPherson was charged with burglary; felony theft; possessing methamphetamine, possessing marijuana, possessing marijuana with intent to sell, possessing deer meat without a permit; possessing methamphetamine with intent to sell, possessing drug paraphernalia; possessing cocaine; and two tax stamp violations.

Raymond McPherson was charged with burglary, felony theft, possessing marijuana and possessing drug paraphernalia. Darrell McPherson was charged with possessing marijuana and possessing drug paraphernalia. Mullins was charged with possessing methamphetamine and possessing cocaine.

BOND WAS set at $50,000 for Donald, Kelly and Gary McPherson; $3,500 for Mullins; $2,500 for Darrell McPherson; and $10,000 for Raymond McPherson.

Darrell, Gary and Raymond McPherson and Mullins posted bond and were released, but Kelly and Donald McPherson still were being held this morning in the Jefferson County Jail.

A court trial for Darrell McPherson and a preliminary hearing for the others was scheduled for 11 a.m. Feb. 24 before Jefferson County District Judge Dennis Reiling, the spokeswoman said.

During the Meriden raid, authorities confiscated marijuana and methamphetamine and recovered some property stolen several weeks ago in a burglary at The Dam Store north of Perry, Sheriff Roy Dunnaway said.

Dunnaway said his office had received tips from a confidential informant and the Shawnee County sheriff's office.

The Kansas Highway Patrol provided a dog trained in narcotics detection, and the State Department of Wildlife and Parks also assisted in the raid, he said.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation had assisted with the investigation, he said.
