Services for Mary Wiltse Altenbernd, 62, Eudora, will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary with the Rev. Denise Hill officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Altenbernd died Friday evening, Dec. 4, 1992, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 10, 1930, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Lee C. and Helen Tobias Wiltse. She had lived in the Eudora area since 1971 since moving there from Overland Park.
She was a former social worker for three years and had also formerly worked in her husband's medical office as a nurse and receptionist.
She graduated from Kansas University in 1953 with a bachelor's degree in social work. She was a former volunteer for the Boy Scouts and the Camp Fire Girls. She had also been the organist at the Overland Park Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Altenbernd was a member of the Ivanhoe United Church of Christ in Raytown, Mo.
She married E.C. Altenbernd, M.D., on June 12, 1954, in Kansas City, Mo. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Anne Wayne, of DeSoto, and Karen Parks, D.V.M., of Gilbert, Ariz.; two sons, David Altenbernd, of the home, and Mark Altenbernd, Baldwin; her mother, Helen Wiltse, Lenexa; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
Memorials may be sent to the Martin Luther Home for Retarded Children in Beatrice, Neb., in care of the mortuary.
