Police reports

A 30-year-old Lawrence man was arrested for domestic battery and child abuse and a 25-year-old Lawrence woman was arrested for domestic battery after the two reportedly got into a fight late Monday outside the man's home in the 1100 block of New York. During the fight, police said, the man struck a 9-year-old boy who was living with the woman. A police spokesman said officers were unsure what the two were fighting about. No one was seriously injured.

Injury accidents

Steven R. Krueger, 36, 1247 Ky., was treated at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and released after a traffic accident at 6:55 p.m. Saturday at Sixth Street and Lawrence Avenue, Lawrence police reported today. Police reported that Krueger was eastbound on Sixth when the car he was driving collided with a car driven north on Lawrence Avenue by Justin R. White, 21, Overland Park. Krueger was cited for drunken driving, disobeying a red light and having no driver's license.

Suzanne E. Laskey, 45, 1201 Oxford Ter., was treated at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and released after an accident at 8:56 a.m. Monday at Iowa and Harvard, police reported. Police reported that Laskey was eastbound on Harvard when the car she was driving collided with a car driven south on Iowa by Terrance J. Huettl, 22, 831 N.Y. Huettl was cited for disobeying a red light and having no proof of insurance. Lawrence firefighters were called at 9:15 a.m. to clean up anti-freeze that had spilled after the collision.

Condition reports

Jim McKenzie, a 37-year-old Lawrence firefighter, was released on Monday from Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center, Topeka. McKenzie was hospitalized Aug. 15 with a head injury he suffered after a hook used to hoist hoses on a drying tower fell on him at Fire Station No. 3, 3708 W. Sixth.

Criminal case proceedings

During a hearing on Monday, a preliminary hearing was scheduled for Sept. 3 for Eugene Edgerton, 35, 447 Perry, who is charged with a felony count of aggravated robbery stemming from a holdup Friday at Roger's Northside Food Center, 608 N. Second. Edgerton allegedly pointed a gun at a 22-year-old cashier and demanded cash. The clerk reportedly gave Edgerton money from a cash drawer. Police arrested Edgerton early Saturday after a six-hour standoff at his home.
