Overland Park Services and burial for William E. Michael, 65, Shawnee, will be private.
Mr. Michael died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1992, at his home.
He was born in Kansas City, Mo., and lived in the area most of his life. He also lived in Wellsville for 16 years.
Mr. Michael was a switchman for the Rock Island Lines for 32 years before he retired.
He was a member of the Railroad Retirees Club.
Mr. Michael was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion in Wellsville. He also was a member of the Shawnee Mission Radio Controlled Airplane Club, the 95th Street Flying Club, Tusco Radio Control Club, and St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Overland Park.
He married Patty Cooper. She survives at the home.
Other survivors include a son, William E. Jr., Durham, N.C.; a daughter, Sherry Briggs, Lenexa; a brother, Richard, Wellsville; a sister, Donna Shernuk, Overland Park; two grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and a stepgreat-grandson.
Friends may call from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at McGilley & Hoge Chapel, Overland Park, which is handling arrangements.
The family suggests memorials to the Olathe Medical Center Hospice or to the church.
